Am I A Whiner?

Damn! I had a comment on one of my posts that all I do is whine and that I’m looking for attention. I think it was spam, but still, it got me thinking. I do let out a lot of my strong feelings on this blog, but I hope it is more positive and uplifting than negative and complain-y. Maybe I shouldn’t care because I try my best to keep it real and be completely candid and authentic. I am a sensitive soul.

So in lieu of whining, here are some positive things in my life:

  • My sister is turning 40 this week! She is beautiful and amazing and has a wonderful family that she shares with me. We get closer every year and I get the privilege of spending her birthday weekend with her and her closest friends in a FAT Air B&B.
  • My boyfriend, David, is an absolute gem. I feel so lucky that we have found each other. We were both in need of a kind, caring, gentle and understanding person in our lives and somehow managed to find one another in our mid-thirties. We celebrate 4 years together next week!
  • One of my besties, Sei Hee, has been allowing me the privilege of training her 2-3 times a week for about 6 months now. I get to explore my programming skills and see the pay-off as she is getting stronger and more confident in the gym. Bonus: I get to see her all the time!
  • Another of my besties, Kate, and her husband moved their family back to Humboldt last year. I get to be auntie to their sweet and sassy girls and Kate and I get to enjoy adult happy hours a couple times a month. I am so grateful to have such good and supportive friends right here in town.
  • I was part of a drag show last weekend to kick off Pride! Being able to move my body to support my oh-so-fabulous community is a joy. I love the drag and burlesque scene in Humboldt.
  • I have a job with excellent and reliable hours, AND I have a side-job that is super fun and helps pay the ever-increasing medical debt I accrue (just found out that they forgot to pay me last week, but I won’t go into that ’cause I’m being positive here).
  • I have two cute and healthy cats. They may be stupid, but they sure are loving!
  • My health is excellent for the most part. For all the major events that my body has been through, I am surprisingly resilient and able to use my knowledge to help ease injuries as they arise. I also have great friends in the bodywork and therapy field who are extremely generous and caring.

So, look, I’ll try to stop whining. Talking about my struggles with health, strokes and VAD can get pretty real and sometimes the anger and frustration come out. I kinda treat this blog like a journal or diary…I act as if no one will be reading it and may even forget that people do….I’m also still not convinced that wasn’t spam. Thanks for being here!
